I recently had the opportunity to work on a Shared Axure Project. While I enjoyed the collaboration, I also learned several things you can do to make the process easier.

  1. Create a user interface style guide before you start working in Axure. When you do start working in Axure, follow the style guide. This will ensure that all pages look consistent.
  2. If applicable, also create an accessibility guide before design within Axure begins. This will ensure that all parties know what to consider accessibility wise, such as what the color contrast needs to be, how should required fields be identified, whether or not alternative versions of multi-media such as transcripts need to be provided, etc.
  3. It is advised to created masters when creating any prototype in Axure but it is even more important to create masters when working on a shared project. Creating masters will make collaboration smoother for everyone and will make it easier to follow the already established user interface guidelines.
  4. If using color in the prototype, decide on a color palette to use.
  5. If the style guide includes guidelines for headers, make sure headers are

included in the masters – with rules … when to use what header, title case or sentence case, etc.

  6. Put your styles into Axure’s Style Editor to make it easy to maintain consistent formatting
  7. Use the Style dropdown to quickly apply these styles to prototype elements

Following these simple tips should improve collaboration when working on a Shared Axure Project.
